Try PathFinder (www.cocoatech.com) – I’ve been using it for the past week, and it’s great. As Steve said back in the days of OS X Public Beta, the Finder is ‘just another app’ – so if you don’t like it, us something else.

Yesterday a Windows-using colleague looked at my Mac and saw me navigating the Finder in browser mode.

“Wow”, he said, “that is convenient!”.

Im not sure why there is so much hate for Finder as it is.
I would like to have a simple way to split a window. Its geeky but it would be nice in terms of moving things from one place to another. Managing many windows is a pain.
Also, I’d like more beefed up into at the bottom of a window for selected items.
Or a way to have a tiny compact info palette for the selected item as opposed to the sometimes giant very vertical info window.
Oh better integration with .mac so that if I drag a file to .mac it shows actual copy progress instead of the bad confusing wrong message it has now about closing the file.
Ok I get now why people want new features.
