New chances for Socceroos Tickets?

Australian Socceroos Germany 2006 World Cup Tickets- going, going… gone?

Ticket requests had to be in to FIFA by January 15th- so if they aren’t in now then it’s too late

Even if you are in the draw for tickets the chances don’t look good- 6 million applications for 250,000 tickets- that makes only 5% chance. Obviously, some games are more popular than others but I would expect the Australian games to be well subscribed. Those who have applied for tickets will be informed if they are successful on 3rd of February by email. Hopefully, this will be better managed than the FFA’s ticket allocation for Australian supporters.

If you haven’t got tickets

Warning
Buying tickets not from FIFA is risky!
I have no inside knowledge and I am just stating my opinion- I DO NOT KNOW so take the below with a grain of salt and don’t blame me!

FIFA’s premium packages

If you have bucket loads of money then of course you can still get tickets- FIFA’s premium packages- starting from a low €1290 per game but you het your moneys worth :)

Enter the stadium through the separate prefered entrance and enjoy a glass of champagne in the hospitality area. Our hostesses will be awaiting you two full hours before game time to serve you culinary delicacies from around the world. Beverages are, of course, included. After the final whistle you can relax with exquisite desserts and drinks, and discuss all the highlights of the game with your friends. You will receive a personal gift and have exclusive access to the Hospitality Village. Our team will look after you personally and make your stay even more enjoyable with all kinds of entertainment.

For the rest of us

When the tickets were booked the names of the people using the ticket had to be supplied (as well as passport/I.D. numbers) and these names and passport numbers will be printed on the tickets. However, there is the possibility that the names on tickets will be able to be changed “tickets can only be transferred with the approval of the Organisation Committee of the 2006 FIFA World Cup Germany” for €10/ticket. If, like me, you bought the maximum number of tickets for each game (4) but haven’t quite rounded up the mates yet with the ready cash then it is possible you will want to sell some- i think this is a legitimate source of tickets but how can you tell these tickets from the bloodsucking scalpers?

If you choose to buy tickets not from FIFA there are a number of concerns-

  • all tickets have chips embedded in them that will be read by the entry machine so the ticket may be worthless (if it has been cancelled by FIFA)
  • tickets are all named- if the ticket doesn’t have your name there is a chance that you will be turned away at the ticket gate- how often they will check ID is anyone’s guess
  • Fakes!- enough said
  • Tickets are already available on ebay but I would be extremely cautious to buy them- Already, tickets to some of Australia’s game have gone on sale- prices were USD $1000 for 2- I would be dubious about their authenticity.

Leave comments if you have any ideas about good sources of legitimate tickets and let us know how you got yours?

    12. Can I obtain tickets from online auctions or from a ticket exchange site?

2006 FIFA World Cupâ„¢ match tickets can only be purchased officially from www.FIFAworldcup.com. All the OC can do is warn people to steer well clear of any other offer. Fans obtaining tickets in this way may find themselves denied admission at the turnstiles. It is widely known that tickets are personalised and cannot be transferred without a genuinely pressing reason, and then only with the Organising Committee’s approval. Problems may arise if the ticket and personal ID fail to match, exactly as it would be with an airline ticket.

    49. How will ID cards and passports be checked at the gates?

Checks will be made depending on circumstances and at random. Customers should know, however, that without proof of identity due to lack of documentation, delays and refused entry to the stadium may be the consequence.
