]]> By: iphone - reversЭngineered http://hrmpf.com/wordpress/131/apple-extending-multi-touch-to-mice/comment-page-1#comment-33201 iphone - reversЭngineered Wed, 01 Aug 2007 04:09:58 +0000 http://hrmpf.com/wordpress/131/apple-extending-multi-touch-to-mice#comment-33201 [...] My younger brother decided to pick up an iPhone on the launch day.  He’s a sucker for new toys just like I am.  I was able to snag it from him for a bit and play around with it hands on for a bit. The interface was very snappy.  I was very impressed how smooth the transitions were from app to app and how the phone just seemed to work like it was supposed to.  The zoom in and out feature of the Google Maps app was very cool.  You would zoom in by pinching the face of the screen with your fingers and zoom out by doing the opposite.  I’m very interested in see what Apple will be doing with the multi-touch interfaces with the Macbook in the future.  It looks like they’ve also filed a patent for multi-touch on a mouse.  One other cool thing was the Coverflow for albums in the music player.  Being able to flip through all the albums on a hand held device was very nice.While I think it’s a great phone, for some reason I felt it was missing something.  It is the first release so I’m hoping they add the ability to add more widgets and that more features will be added later on. I think my main issue with the iPhone was the fact that they locked it to a single carrier.  If Apple ever allows the iPhone on other carriers like Sprint, T-Mobile and others, I would definitely think about buying one.  AT&T and Cingular are not at the top of my favorite provider list. Uma espécie de iPhone para os mouses, funcionaria com um sensor ótico em seu interior detectando toques em toda sua superfície. Presumivemente você poderia usar os dois dedos para os efeitos de pinça tão fabulosos no iPhone, por exemplo. Muito legal e interessante, mas até hoje não entendo por que não existe um mouse com uma clickwheel ou mesmo uma touchweel, como a dos iPods. Praticamente todos os mouses de PC — e mesmo os ligados a Macs — possuem scrollwheels usadas para rolar páginas na internet e ler documentos em geral. Mas quem já usou um iPod percebe as maravilhas de poder “rolar” algo sem ter que levantar seu dedo. É basicamente o motivo pelo qual os iPods fizeram tanto sucesso, todas as outras interfaces de rolagem concorrentes envolvem apertar um botão inúmeras vezes ou girar ou mexer em algo em movimento que o obrigam a levantar o dedo. Mesmo interfaces alternativas sensíveis ao toque, como uma barra, não puderam competir porque… obrigam você a levantar o dedo. Não é mera frescura de quem não se anima a literalmente “levantar um dedo”. Simplesmente é mais fácil usar um iPod graças à touch ou clickwheel. Quando a Apple lançou o Mighty Mouse, pensei que seria óbvio que tivessem incorporado uma roda sensível ao toque. Mas não, fizeram algo supostamente mais avançado, com uma “Scroll Ball” e múltiplos pontos sensíveis ao toque que acabaram apresentando múltiplas dificuldades de uso. Por que não uma simples roda sensível ao toque, na qual você giraria o dedo e seu movimento circular fosse convertido em uma rolagem da tela em apenas um eixo — exatamente como em um iPod? Imagino que testes práticos possam ter mostrado alguma inconveniência (passar o dedo acidentalmente pela touchwheel, por exemplo), e também que o fato da tecnologia ser patenteada impeça outros fabricantes de arriscar.
